About Us

York Training Centre is a training provider which is also a part of the City of York Council. Based in central York and easily accessible, we offer job seeking programmes together with a wide range of short courses and vocational training. We aim to provide quality training to enhance potential in the employment market and at any one time we are meeting the needs of over 350 people through training and employment initiatives.

We work in partnership with a large number of employers and aim to raise awareness of the importance of skills development and training. This helps employers to develop their business through the retention of skilled staff.

Our work based training activities enable us to support a range of participants, aged from 14 to 65 years, at all levels of personal and professional development. The range of our activities include:

• Apprenticeships at all levels
• Private training for national qualifications and bespoke courses
• Work Based Learning for Adults
• Government sponsored employment seeking programmes eg New Deal Gateway to Work and Programme Centres
• New Deal for Employers
• Extended Work Experience Programmes for Schools
• Provision of transport to gain and sustain employment eg Wheels to Work

Along with our site in York, we also run Selby Training Centre. It is a modern suite of training rooms and resources, situated near the train station at Ousegate Business Centre, Selby. Similar programmes are available from this site.
